Bellingham auto repair

Brought my vehicle in for an intermittent start issue that acts up very inconsistently. I dropped it off after closing, and was called by Andrew shortly after they opened the next morning. I visited the shop and ran him through what I could describe. He was very personable and very transparent about the difficulties with pinpointing intermittent starts. From the beginning, he explained he could not guarantee solving the issue immediately, but we went together to check out my car. He Immediately acknowledged some of the minor work we had done previously trying to solve the issue, which I appreciated without me even pointing it out. Andrew was very attentive and took any details I could give him seriously, even though I am not mechanically inclined at all, and kept open communication about status updates. He also squeezed my car into their very busy schedule. Unfortunately, my car did not act up while at the shop, and he was very clear that he does not like guessing and charging people for parts and labor to have them find out that it wasn’t the reason for the intermittent starts, but called and wanted to be clear if I would want to get a quote for what he could only suspect may be the culprit. My vehicle was desperately due for that same maintenance regardless, so I had no qualms going forward after how attentive, sincere, and professional Andrew and Flat Black Auto has been.

Great experience with this shop. This shop was recommended to me by a friend after asking about trustworthy mechanics. So glad I came here. They kept me in the loop with everything, communication is very important to me, and they did not disappoint! They were able to diagnose the issues and make necessary repairs in a timely matter! Decent hourly rates, and great work, you cannot go wrong with Flat Black! I will be returning!

Great service and fair prices

My van broke down on my way out of town, AAA was able to get me moving and so I drove it to Andrew @ Flat Black Auto. I was fixed and ready to get back on the move in less than 20 minutes and he covered the costs of the parts. It was only a few bolts but that type of gesture says a lot about the business. Thanks again Andrew!
